Wastewater

Widefield Water and Sanitation District operates a state of the art wastewater treatment plant that includes:

  • Headworks and Screening Removal
  • Primary Clarifiers
  • Anoxic Basins
  • Aeration Basins
  • Drum Thickeners
  • Aerobic Digesters
  • Disinfection/De-Chlorination Facility

The capacity of our Wastewater Treatment Plant is 2.5 millions gallons per day with a planned final build out of 5 million gallons per day. Our facility is operated and maintained by Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators who are certified by the State of Colorado Department of Health and Environmental Services.

Our Wastewater Department Employees also inspect and clean the entire collection system on an annual basis to minimize sewer back-ups and disruptions to service.

We are very sensitive about odors and we have design improvements ready to be built as soon as funding becomes available. Please contact Mark McCormack, Wastewater Department Manager at 719-955-0548 to report odors or to arrange a tour of our facility.
